  • Description:

    On April 23, 2021, staff from the East Zone of the Huron-Manistee National Forest in Michigan gathered to conduct the Brittle Prescribed Fire. After blacklining the unit, aerial ignition was conducted by a helicopter with a plastic sphere dispenser. Spot fires were observed during firing operations. These spots were easy to suppress at first, but more were detected and ignition operations ceased at 1252. Spots continue to grow and at 1424 the Rx is declared a wildfire.
