    On Saturday, July 18, 2026, at approximately 1700 hours a CAL FIRE helitack crew was engaged in firefighting operations on the Brook Incident in Shasta County, California. Fire intensity increased significantly on the section of fireline the helitack crew was working on, resulting in multiple spot fires in the area. The helitack crew, consisting of one Fire Captain and six Firefighters, sustained minor burn injuries. The crew members were treated by incident personnel and transported to local Redding area hospitals. All helitack crew members were evaluated and released later that evening.
