Description:
While felling a 15-inch diameter, 33-foot tall ponderosa pine snag on the Plumas National Forest, the tree broke and fell 180 degrees off its intended lay. The sawyer escaped the stump straight back, and was struck by the falling stob when he had made it about 17 feet away from the stump. Though briefly pinned to the ground, he did not sustain major injuries.
