    On August 20, 1993, the Glen Allen Fire started from a vehicle fire that extended into brush. Los Angeles County firefighters Arthur Ruezga and Christopher Herman responded with their helitack crew. Following a half hour of suppression action, the crew took a tactical pause to evaluate the situation, then engaged on a steep, rugged, downhill section of fireline. While deployed on the slope, the fire made an abrupt uphill run, entrapping the crew. Arthur Ruezga and Christopher Herman perished, while two other firefighters received serious burn injuries. Five others escaped unharmed.
