Description:
On October 3, 1933, a group of workers organized squads by a Great Depression-era work program, were performing manual labor in Griffith Park in Los Angeles, California. When a fire started nearby, numerous workers attacked the fire with handtools. The wind shifted and forced the workers to retreat, reaching dozens of them before they could escape. An unknown number were injured in the entrapment, and at least 29 perished. The names of the deceased are not readily available.
