  • Description:

On April 7, 2024, fire personnel were conducting a prescribed fire to treat hazardous fuels when a firefighter filled their drip torch with a Jerry can without using a nozzle because one was not available. Fuel spilled on their flame-resistant pants and one of their boots. Later, while standing near vegetation they had just ignited, the firefighter's pants caught on fire. The firefighter suppressed the fire by patting it out but not before receiving second degree burns on their lower right leg just above the boot line.
