Description:
Alvin Walters, a pilot for Hemet Valley Flying Service, was killed when his converted TBM Avenger torpedo bomber crashed while dropping retardant on the Jackrabbit Fire, Riverside County, California. The cause of the crash was not reported. The Jackrabbit Fire burned over 2,000 acres and had 600 firefighters assigned at its peak.
