  • Description:

    On March 29, 2026, Kentucky Division of Forestry resources responded to an initial attack fire along Hwy 1498 in Floyd County, KY. Due to a wind shift during the construction of containment line, a crew's access to their designated safety zone was cut off. While attempting to jump the flames into the safety zone, one firefighter tripped and fell into the fire receiving significant burns. Another individual was also burned while trying to rescue the injured person.
