    Lane 1 Fire - September 14, 2024 

    An equipment operator running a road vibrating compactor roller, ventured too close to a soft shoulder while doing repair work on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) ground on the Lane 1 Fire located southeast of Cottage Grove, Oregon. As the roller started to tip over, the operator was able to jump free and the equipment rolled end-over-end approximately 150 feet down an 85 percent slope, hitting numerous trees and receiving massive damage. The operator was unhurt.
