Mountain Fire Payson Helitack Firefighter Valley Fever 2019

A Payson Helitack Firefighter became ill on the Mountain Fire on the Tonto National Forest. The Firefighter drove to a local urgent care facility and later to a local hospital. Not getting better, he was referred to a hospital in Phoenix where the Firefighter was diagnosed with Valley Fever. The Firefighter was admitted and treated inpatient for 7 days. The Firefighter was then released, but, by August 10, had not returned to work. In addition, the Firefighter has not yet been successful in getting OWCP to accept the claim.
