NIFC Cache Van Incident 2026

On March 18, 2026, an employee of the Great Basin Fire Cache at NIFC in Boise, Idaho, was returning from an offsite storage facility and found that the truck entrance to the NIFC campus was closed. He drove around to the main vehicle entrance, which is intended primarily for passenger vehicles but is large enough to allow a tractor-trailer to pass through. While passing through this smaller entrance, a rear cargo door swung open and contacted signage next to the guard's station. Both the signage and the rear door were damaged in the minor accident.
