  • Description:

    On June 09, 2016, the Flaming Gorge/Vernal Ranger District fire modules began implementing the Ponderosa prescribed fire project. After the ignition portion was completed, modules started mopping up over the next several days in critical holding areas and any possible areas that may have holding issues or concerns. The weather was getting hotter a drier. During the mop-up phase, 2-ATV’s and 2-UTV’s were used to transport fire suppression equipment. The vehicles were parked, and personnel left the area to conduct suppression activities. When personnel returned to the parking area, they found that all four vehicles had burned up.
