Sierra Madre Fire Entrapment Fatality 1961

Mike Rushworth, an 18-year-old member of the Dalton Hotshots, was entrapped by a sudden flareup during initial attack of a brush fire near Sierra Madre in Los Angeles County, California. Rushworth was burned over half of his body in varying degrees of severity and remained in the hospital until December 8, 1961, when he passed away.
