Willamette Complex South Medical Emergency 2024

    While at a drop point on the Willamette South Fire, Willamette National Forest, a member of a hand crew was experiencing chest pains and asked the staged ambulance for some aspirin. The paramedic conducted further assessment and in short order, the firefighter was connected to the EKG on the ambulance. The EKG revealed the firefighter was experiencing or had experienced a heart attack. A medevac response ensued, where the firefighter was taken to Crescent, Oregon by ambulance, and then by helicopter to Bend, Oregon for surgery. The firefighter was released from the hospital on 9/25/2024.
