Description:
An hand crew member assigned to the Yeti Fire, Klamath National Forest, California, was struck by the top of a tree while assisting a faller. The individual was serving as the swamper, and the top of the tree broke off and impacted the individual’s hip. The crewmember was evaluated by line medics and cleared; however the patient later sought medical attention for secondary infection associated by the splinters. The patient was referred to a medical center for a tertiary evaluation, and was released to full duty.
