On November 8, 2024, at approximately 1401, the Mansfield Fire Department responded to a brush fire on Cabot Blvd. Upon arrival, crews discovered that the entire wooded area between the street and the building was on fire. While working to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to the structure, two firefighters sustained injuries when a large dead branch unexpectedly fell from approximately 35 feet up. Both firefighters were promptly transported by Rescue to Good Samaritan Medical Center for evaluation. One firefighter suffered minor injuries to his shoulder and was discharged after assessment, with a full recovery expected in the coming days. The second firefighter sustained soft tissue injuries and a facial bone fracture. Based on the trauma physician's assessment, he was transferred to Boston Medical Center for further evaluation. Both firefighters are in stable condition.
