Description:
Rodger McLean, a Forest Service firefighter employed by the Stanislaus National Forest in California, was killed by a limb knocked from a tree by lightning at 0100 on July 10, 1960. McLean was engaged in initial attack after a lightning storm ignited scores of fires in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The fire was located on Woods Ridge, 20 miles southeast of Sonora, California.
