Learning at Work – Safe spaces required? The wisdom and irony of ‘Don’t F it up’ Part 3

A three part series by Racheal Reimer In the Winter 2017 issue of Two More Chains, firefighter Bre Orcasitas discussed wildland fire culture. In her blog, https://theevolvingnomad.com/2016/11/20/fire-culture/, she wrote, “Hearing ‘don't F...

Giving and Receiving Critical Feedback

By Dana Skelly and Todd Gregory   A trainee walks into a bar… Right. How about this: A trainee comes your way, not really impressing you, but whatever. Close to finishing their book, you cut them loose to run the mission. You thumb through their task book. Drip Torch Leg Burns

By Travis Dotson   It happens often.  Second and third degree burns on the calf associated with using a drip torch.  That's all.  Just letting you know.  You are now armed with awareness.

"Leadership is an inch wide and a mile deep" - National Staff Ride Workshop

By Persephone Whelan    What is a staff ride workshop and what will I learn? I wasn’t quite sure, but I seized the opportunity to attend the Shiloh Battlefield Staff Ride with both hands and didn’t let go.

Entrapments are...

By Travis Dotson NWCG Definition of "Entrapment" I have been entrapped - multiple times.

How to package lessons?

Yep - another one.  Another firefighter has been hospitalized with serious burns after their saw spewed fuel all over the place and then ignited.  This isn't the only instance we see over and over again.
