Description:
On the San Juan National Forest on the 416 Fire, a contract firefighter attempted to start a contractor-supplied hydraulic pump with a missing spark plug. The firefighter was sprayed with gasoline which ignited. He was then transported to the Durango Hospital, was diagnosed with 1st and 2nd degree burns to the face, and referred to a Burn Center in Spokane, Washington. The vendor flew the firefighter to Spokane, where the patient was evaluated at the Burn Center and determined no further treatment was necessary.
