Description:
While working in the Snowy Monaro Area in southern NSW, Australia, contact was lost with a C-130Q air tanker (registration N134CG) belonging to Coulson Aviation of Oregon, USA. The aircraft had departed Richmond, NSW with a load of retardant and was on a firebombing mission. The aircraft had completed a drop on the fire when it failed to safely climb away from the ground and impacted terrain, killing all onboard and destroying the aircraft.
The three lost in the crash of C-130 N123CG were: Rick A. DeMorgan Jr., Paul Clyde Hudson, and Ian H. McBeth.
