Alder Creek Fire Hit by Tree Fatality 1934

Walter Kolniak, an 18-year-old Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) crewmember, was killed on a fire near Alder Creek in the vicinity of St. Maries, at 1500 on September 2, 1934. Kolniak's death certificate lists the cause of death as "hemorrhage and internal injuries" resulting from him being struck by a falling tree. No further information is readily available.
