Description:
On September 20, 2001, on the Alkali Rim Prescribed Fire, an increase in fire behavior--fueled by a wind switch and relative humidity--led to five firefighters using their escape routes and safety zones. No employees were injured and no fire shelters were deployed. After this escape event, the igniters’ crew leader immediately assembled the crew members and had an initial crew debriefing. At approximately 1500 hours, all personnel on the prescribed fire gathered for a meeting to discuss the activity. By 1530 hours, they were back to burning and burned until approximately 1630.
