  • Date:

    08/08/1997

    Vehicle Burn Damage
  • Description:

The Anderson Creek Fire started on August 8 at approximately 1445. The location is northeast of section 23, northwest of section 24, T. 1 N., R. 9 E. at the confluence of Lester Creek and the South Fork of the Boise River, Anderson Ranch Reservoir. It was reported by Trinity lookout and an employee doing a Goshawk survey. A fire burning on the east side of Lester Creek at the confluence of the South Fork Boise River outflanked the line construction efforts and also spotted to the north side of the drainage adjacent to the control operations. The combination of these two events caused a rapid uphill run with 10 to 15-foot flame lengths. The crew retreated into their safety zone, the burn, with one person experiencing heat and smoke problems. Vehicle 4965 was damaged by the passing flame front.
