Anvil Fire Hit by Tree 2023

While cutting a tree during line construction efforts on the Anvil Fire, Rogue-River Siskiyou National Forest (Oregon), a sawyer was struck by a chunk of bark that sluffed off from high in the tree. The sawyer was struck in the head/helmet by the sluffed off bark. Short haul was initially requested and then canceled. The crewmember was able to walk off the fireline. Assigned and local ambulances worked to transport the crewmember to the hospital, where the examination revealed a concussion. The crewmember was released after the examination.
