    In October 2020, an Area Command Team, referred to in this report as “ACT-C”, mobilized to the August Complex in California to transition with and replace another Area Command Team that was scheduled to demobilize. The August Complex of fires was started by multiple lightning strikes on August 16 and 17 and burned over a million acres before final containment. Over the lifespan of the incident, many different types of resources were assigned in various locations, including Incident Management and Area Command Teams. The Area Command Teams were stationed at the Shasta-Trinity National Forest Supervisor’s Office in Redding, California. The Area Command Team affected by this incident-within-an-incident was under a Delegation of Authority from the Forest Service Pacific Southwest Regional Office. There were a total of 14 people who were rostered in support of ACT-C’s assignment that were physically working on-site in Redding, CA. Out of this group, nine individuals ultimately tested positive for COVID-19.
