Description:
At 1357 on June 12, 1974, a Lockheed PV-2 Harpoon registered N7263C crashed during fire suppression operations near Winslow, Arizona. Conditions at the time of the accident were 98 degrees F and winds at about 25 mph, with a density altitude of 12,000 feet. While in the fire area, the aircraft entered a stall and spiraled into the ground. The failure of the pilot to maintain adequate airspeed and the high density altitude were listed as factors in the crash. Further information, including the pilots' names, is not readily available.
