    A 19-year-old firefighter was injured by a rolling rock while assigned to the Bear Creek Fire on the Payette National Forest near the mouth of Bear Creek, 25 air miles east of Riggins, Idaho. Due to the remote and roadless nature of the injury site, an aircraft dropped an inflatable raft to float the injured man down the Salmon River to a location where he could be transported by automobile. He was taken to the hospital in McCall, Idaho, and recovered from his injuries.
