Description:
At approximately 1005 hours on July 5, 1976, on the King Fire on Bureau of Land Management lands south of Carson City, Nevada, a Bell 206 helicopter was shuttling four firefighters into a mountain top helispot. This was the seventh flight of the day flown by this pilot into the same location. Approximately one-half mile north of the landing site, the aircraft went into a very tight spiraling turn to the pilot's left, spun two or three times, and crashed into the ground. The pilot, James Davidson with Arizona Helicopters, and two of the passengers, John Ivins and Ken Carvin, both Nevada Division of Forestry firefighters, were killed. The two surviving passengers received serious injuries.
