Description:
The Berg Unit #3 prescribed fire on the New Perce National Forest, Idaho, was ignited via helicopter aerial ignition in September 2003. On October 2, 2003, the prescribed fire escaped the unit boundary and required suppression by multiple resources, including air tankers.
