Black Fire Fall Head Injury 2024

While working a piece of line on the Black Fire, Tonto National Forest, Arizona, a crewmember on an Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC) fell off a ledge and hit his head. The crewmember was evaluated by U.S.F.S. EMTs who determined that the head injury should be seen by a doctor. The crewmember was transported via medivac helicopter from the fire to the hospital in Phoenix, AZ for further evaluation. The crewmember was in the hospital overnight and was released on the morning of 7/14/24 with instructions to rest for 1 day before returning to the Crew.
