Blaylock Prescribed Fire Burn Injury 2023

  • Description:

    A crewmember was participating on prescribed fire operations on the Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas. While walking through thick vegetation, the crewmember became stuck, and dripped drip torch fuel to the back of the lower leg. The crewmember immediately notified the supervisor and the burn boss (RXB2) and was assessed on site. Determination for GOV transport was made, and the patient was transported to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock and admitted to the Burn Center at the Hospital. He was diagnosed with a “palm sized 2nd degree burn.” He was treated and released from the hospital with a virtual follow-up scheduled.
