    On July 19, 1940, Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) crewmember Joseph Galluzzo was killed when he was entrapped by fire. Galluzzo was part of 100 CCC firefighters and 500 civilian volunteers who responded to this fire located north of Boise, Idaho. The fire burned ranch lands south of Horseshoe Bend and ultimately up into the forest near Bogus Basin. Galluzzo was caught in an open fir forest when the fire escaped control lines. He attempted to escape back through the flaming front. A dozen of his crewmates narrowly escaped.
