Bottle Creek Fire Medical Emergency Fatality 1926

J. Smith, an itinerant logger believed to be approximately 70 years old, was found dead in bed at a lumber camp near Stirling City, California after he had been on the lines of a forest fire in the Bottle Creek area, south of Butte Meadows, California. The fire burned approximately 2,600 acres of industrial timber land and areas of the Lassen National Forest. It was suppressed by firefighters under the control of Ranger Frank Delaney of the Lassen NF. Neither newspapers nor official public records provide Smith's full name or his exact age.
