Description:
On the Buffalo Pasture Prescribed Fire in South Dakota, two ATVs with mounted torches were used to ignite the prescribed fire. During operations, one of the ATVs tried to traverse a sleep slope and began to roll over. The operator jumped off and rolled clear as the ATV landed backwards on its seat. The ATV then rolled downhill and was consumed by fire as the operator had to leave the area due to fire behavior. The ATV was destroyed by fire but the operator was not seriously injured.
