Bunker Hill Fire Medical Emergency Fatality 1965

James McDonell, a fire control officer with the Eldorado National Forest, California, suffered a heart attack while fighting a lightning fire near Bunker Hill south of Hell Hole. A helicopter was dispatched to pick up McDonell and take him to a waiting ambulance and then to Auburn hospital. The heart attack proved fatal.
