Description:
On July 16, 2017, a lightning strike ignited a wildfire within the Burdette Inventoried Roadless Area (IRA) on the Ninemile Ranger District of the Lolo National Forest in western Montana. Because of the complexities and nuances involved in managing and ultimately suppressing the wildfire, the Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS) Innovation and Organizational Learning (IOL) Research, Development, and Application (RD&A) chose this fire—the Burdette Fire—as a case study.
