Caldor Fire Ash Pit Burn Injuries 2021

On Saturday August 28, 2021, at approximately 1:55 PM, during mop up operations, a Local Government firefighter suffered 2nd & 3rd degree burns. The injuries occurred on Division Juliet of the Caldor Incident in El Dorado County just west of Strawberry. The firefighter fell into an area of white ash, resulting in burns to both hands, forearms, and abdomen. The firefighter was treated by incident personnel and ground transported to the UC Davis burn center. Due to smoke conditions on the incident, transport by air ambulance was not possible.
