    DNR equipment operator Donald Eisberner, 48, died in the line of duty on April 24, 1982 o the 274-acre Canoe Landing Fire in Eau Claire County. The Canoe Landing Fire was caused by an unattended campfire. Fire spread to dry grass and in a young pine plantation. Don was one of the first firefighters to arrive at the scene and begin plowing on the fireline. With a sudden wind shift, the fire turned and trapped Don and his tractor plow unit.
