    Waldo Hackman, a pilot for P&B Aviation Service, perished when his TBM Avenger single engine air tanker crashed during retardant operations on the Central Pacific Mine Fire near Forbestown, California. After dropping 180 gallons of retardant ("borate") on the 1,400 acre fire on Robinson Mill Road, the Avenger crashed while attempting to climb over a ridgeline.
