    Waldo Hackman, a pilot for P&B Aviation Service, perished when his TBM Avenger single-engine air tanker crashed during retardant operations on the Central Pacific Mine Fire near Forbestown, California. After dropping 180 gallons of retardant ("borate") on the 1,400-acre fire on Robinson Mill Road, the Avenger crashed while attempting to climb over a ridgeline.
