Description:
Gayle Eaton, a pilot for the Redding-based Hemet Flying Service, was killed when his S-2 air tanker crashed during the approach to a drop on the Charles Creek Fire on the Plumas National Forest. The fire burned 244 acres on the south side of Charles Creek, 7 miles north of Frenchman Lake. The exact cause of the crash is not readily verifiable.
