Description:
In August 2012 the Chips Fire burned over 75,000 acres on the Plumas/Lassen National Forest lands. Sections of the fire burned in serpentine rock areas which are known to produce Natural Occurring Asbestos. The decision was made to stop the retrieval of suppression equipment (hose, pumps, tools) in the serpentine areas.
