Description:
From April 12-22, 2008, employees on the Clifton Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest were conducting a complex prescribed fire south of Alpine, Arizona. On the afternoon of April 20, a spot fire across Eagle Creek quickly spread beyond the capabilities of assigned resources. Fire managers chose to fall back to a previously identified contingency line (a two lane forest highway). Declared a wildfire on April 22, the Eagle Wildfire was contained without further incident on April 28.
