Description:
On January 31, Firefighters Marcus King and Jared Lee Wright of the Claude Volunteer Fire Department were killed when their fire apparatus was struck by a train while they were fighting a brush fire on a railroad right-of-way. Both Firefighters suffered severe traumatic injuries and died several days later. Firefighter King was 15 years old at the time of his death. Firefighter Wright was 18 years old.
