The IMT identified a plan to go direct to secure that line. This was a typical strategy that firefighting resources have historically been most comfortable with (one foot in the black).
The second option was to go with an indirect strategy that would involve a large burn operation and would utilize recent fuels treatments and natural barriers along the Granite Creek drainage to the north of the main fire.
