Description:
At 1538 on July 29, 1985, a Consolidated-Vultee PBY-6A water-scooping aircraft registered N2886D suffered a mishap while attempting to refill its tanks on the Columbia River while aiding in suppression of the Colville Fire, near Northport, WA. The NTSB investigation indicates that the aircraft landed on the water surface with the dump doors partially open. Both pilots, James Dunlap and Tim Trudell, were killed in the accident.
