    From A History of the Salmon-Challis National Forest: Two firefighters lost their lives during the Corn Creek fire in 1961. One died of a heart attack, and the other was killed in a highway accident enroute home to McCammon after the fire. Though he was not on the Salmon Forest at the time of the accident, he was still on the Forest payroll.
