Description:
A recurring radio anomaly occurred on the Cougar Fire in Washington, causing repeaters to be "locked" open, prohibiting individuals from transmitting for extended periods of time. After troubleshooting a number of possibilities, the issue was isolated to a base station radio unit that was placed in a staging area under a covered porch near a structure. Lawn sprinklers in the area which were believed to have been turned off, were spraying in the area of the radio, just enough to dampen the base station and cause an open mic. Once this radio was removed from the network, the anomaly issue was resolved.
