Description:
Cheryl Old Horn Deputee, a firefighter with the Bureau of Indian Affairs based in Crow Agency, Montana, was killed in an engine accident while fighting a brush fire. Deputee was operating a pump on the back of her fire engine when the brakes failed and the vehicle rolled into a ravine and turned over, pinning her underneath. She was reported to have died instantly in the accident. Deputee was a member of an 18-person initial attack crew.
