    William Risdon, a rancher in the Watsonville, California, area, died suddenly while assisting with fire suppression on November 3, 1929. Risdon joined with other local residents and the fire department in attempting to suppress the fire on private property on Santa Cruz Road. When Risdon collapsed, two other men on the the scene attempted to revive him with artificial respiration for one hour and twenty minutes. Ultimately a doctor at the scene pronounced Risdon deceased.
