Description:
On November 3, 1929, William Risdon, a rancher in the Watsonville, California area, died suddenly while assisting with fire suppression efforts. Risdon had joined with other local residents and the fire department in attempting to suppress this fire located on private property on Santa Cruz Road. When Risdon collapsed, two other men attempted to revive him with artificial respiration for one hour and 20 minutes. Ultimately, a doctor at the scene pronounced Risdon deceased.
