Description:
Just after 1700 on Sunday, July 10, 2016, two Bureau of Land Management firefighters, Jacob M. O’Malley and Will P. Hawkins, were fatally injured when their Type 4 fire engine was involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident. The rollover resulted from a catastrophic failure of the right rear tire. The accident occurred on Nevada Highway 140 about 37 miles north of Winnemucca, Nevada. A third firefighter in the engine was injured in the accident and airlifted to a hospital in Reno. On July 12, 2016, he was released from the hospital.
